Cephalopod in Silver is part of my new pendant series using mixed metals on stacked pancake and impression dies. This one, Cephalopod in Silver, is about 1 1/2’ wide and tall (including the bail), and about 1/2’’ deep. The octopus is sterling silver and impressed in a 20 ton hydraulic jewelry press, then hand-pierced with a Jeweler’s saw to give dimension and show the copper layer underneath. She rests on copper pancake or blanking die shapes. The backplate is sterling silver and is textured for design and depth. The bail is also sterling silver. All parts are either soldered or cold connected together.
Each element is created from stock sheet metal, formed, sawn, cut, or shaped by hand, soldered, textured and patina-ed, polished, riveted and assembled, then photographed for advertising and posterity. No two are exactly alike.
Cephalopod in Silver comes with an 19” 2mm rubber choker and will be gift wrapped.
