Bee-Dazzled is part of my new pendant series combining mixed metals with impression and blanking dies. This one is about 2” wide & 2 1/2” tall (with bail) and about 1/2’’ deep and contains some unique hand-sawn designs. Bee-Dazzled was created with sterling silver and copper stacked and riveted with micro-fasteners for a unique industrial look. The top bee focal is copper and impressed in a 20 ton hydraulic jewelry press using a carved steel bee impression die from Potter USA, then hand sawn and soldered on a sterling base. The middle layer is brass for contrast and finally the bottom plate is impressed sterling silver. The sterling backplate is texture impressed for design and depth. A cut-out bee is hand sawn into the bail and another on the back plate. The hand formed bail is sterling and soldered onto the base plates. All parts are either soldered or cold connected together.
Each element is created from stock sheet metal, formed, sawn, cut, or shaped by hand, soldered, textured and patina-ed, polished, or riveted and assembled, then photographed for advertising and posterity. No two are exactly alike.
Bee-Dazzled comes with an 18″ rubber choker and will be gift wrapped.
